I can't judge whether someone's prediction will come to pass but there are so many possiblities...hyperinflation...terrorist attack...economy collapses...natural disaster...wars...trade collapse...riots...martial law...and what preparations you can do to ride out such events. Whatever might be looming out there, what could money buy now that you might not be able to buy later?

Are any of us prepared to face those things or do you think the government will take care of us? We could ask the folks who weathered Katrina and Rita that question? They ran out of medicines, water, food, fuel, toliet paper, a working toliet...

Some people say they would just trust in God and He will take care of them...yes, He does that, sometimes with people like a Joseph. I don't know any Joseph's today. Obama certainly isn't showing signs of being a Joseph to me, nor any of his appointees, but I fear that is where too many people have placed their trust.

Glen Beck is promoting a gathering of like minds nationwide to send a message and get a jump start on that planning, on March 13th, I think it's called, "we surround them".

I have been following Glenn Beck's sentiments and musings lately also. He is one of the few in the media that sees this shaping up the same way I do and is willing to speak openly about it.

The bottom line is this. If this so called recession continues and leads into a depression and or economic collapse? There will be chaos and anarchy in the streets of every city in this country and the same will have already occurred in most of Europe and across Asia.

People don't really know how precipitously close to that reality that this country already is. Witht he rate that the federal government is burning through billions of borrowed and printed money attempting to stave off this collapse, all it will take is for China and Japan and the Sudis to pull out of the dollar and stop buyin our debt. And that is the point when the house of cards collapses and we find ourselves in a surreal world of fictional chaos come to life.

I am preparing as best as I can for what ever comes for my family. Buying extra canned goods and dry goods each week and storing them. I would recommend that the prudent begin to do the same.

Baloney. This is bad theology, plain and simple. Judgment ended at the Cross. Since then we have been living in an age of grace when God has been calling everyone to him. Yes, there will still be a final Judgment, but the idea that God is pissed and he's unleashing his wrath prior to that doesn't line up with a shred of Scripture. David Wilkerson is wrong, just as Pat Robertson was spectacularly wrong that Katrina was God's judgment against New Orleans for the [name your favorite sin here] in America.

Locutisprime

Whether God is pissed as you say? Well that is up to interpretation. As this pastor seems to have done on his own.

As for God's judgment of man ending at the cross? I don't believe that is what the bible teaches.

Something about destroying the world a second time slips into my memory of what God's word and promises has to say about our future.

In any event, the following arrived in one of my emails this morning

"The wise look ahead to see what is coming, but fools deceive themselves."

Proverbs 14:8 NLT

I thought that was rather prescient considering.

There are a few overbearing bills being introduced right now that are aimed regulating the small farmer out of existance and making it more expensive for the corporate farms to to business.

Events like the recent peanut recall have opened the gates to the wolves that were lying in wait to attack what is less than 1% of the population growing your food. Can't have those locally grown vegetables outside of goverment control. Generally, this drives business out of the USA and we become even more dependent on importing.

If trade and/or transportation are disrupted, for whatever crisis, you may want to have the option of growing your own fruits and vegetables. To visualize this, think along the spectrum of anything that could happen between television series "The Waltons" and "Jericho".

If this option seems overwhelming, don't let it be, just purchase a mix of heritage seeds, and tuck them away, just in case. I suggest heritage because the hybrids won't allow you to collect seeds for a second season. If seeds are kept sealed and in a cool location, they are viable for at least three years.

If you aren't blessed to be part of that 1%, as I am, and know nothing about farming, I'd suggest you pick up John Seymour's, The Self Sufficient Life and how to live it. The Complete back to basics guide, distributed by DK. It has instruction on how to grow everything from an urban garden to a community garden plot (and a lot more like how to build a thunder hut...an outdoor toliet.)

And if you think seeds would be readily available in a crisis, think again, most seeds are controlled almost entirely by one corporation, owner lives in Mexico, and he's very much into hybrids. There are lots of small mom and pop heritage seed companies out there but their supplies are limited and demand has been increasing. Last year many of them were sold out.

I am reminded of the Y2K scare, led by many Christians I'll add, that turned out to be a complete bust...

My hope is that once again, the scare won't match the reality... and my belief as to judgment, though it's not firm, lines up more with gcw's theology...

We shall see...

David is a religious hack. He started this tirade when he wrote his first book titled The Vision back in 1973. I read it then and decided it was all about making a buck... same now. He's updated the book and is looking for some free publicity.

When someone finally gets around to telling the truth about our problems it will be interesting.

The brunt of responsibility will be laying at the feet of the "church" in the world today more than most have any idea.

Mommynator

Until I learned better, I was pushed hither'n'yon by the faddish nature of many of these kinds of people.

Then I heard the story about the monk who was asked what he would do if he knew that the world would end that evening, and he said, "Go out and hoe my beans."

Really, other than doing what we're given the opportunity to do to influence events, what else can we do by "hoe our beans"?, meaning to me, go to work, raise my family, do as much good as I can, preach the gospel and sometimes even use words, love God and my neighbor.

The "church" can be just as guilty about creating panic and confusion in order to try to gain control over peoples' lives, instead of accessing and giving out God's peace - the peace Jesus promised us (in the world you will have trouble but I will give you peace), just so people can feel important (totally antithetic to Christ's attitude) and influential and in control.

And I think that's why I've all but given up on church in the traditional sense, and find it wherever I can who are trying to follow Christ. The agenda-driven life is not for me.

I remember Y2K all too well. I bought and stored food then in the event it turned into something terrible. It didn't.

As a result, I had plentiful food for over a year and I was additionally blessed to be able to make a wonderful Christmas for several families that year with the surplus that I had stored as a precaution.

I will do the same now. I will store up canned goods and dry goods and if nothing comes of the present crisis beyond what it is right now? Then once again I will have a plentiful supplemental supply of food for my family for at least a year and next Christmas I will again donate to the needy.

I can appreciate the concept of hoeing the beans. Just like the concept of nuclear attack, where many once said screw survival, just turn and look at the bright light.

I for one, see very bad things looming on the horizon, if this country continues down the economic crisis path that it is currently pursuing. And as I have told many friends in the past, I will tell those here a few simple realities.

If this nation's economy collapses? And it can easily do so right now due to the massive losses to banks and the markets, then chaos can be called forth and rule in less than 72 hours nation wide.

There are many examples of God's warnings to the people in the bible. As there have been many words to the wise in our own contemporary time. Hurricane Katrina should have been a wake up call to a lot of people in this country. That disaster alone should have been reason enough for most American families to store up at least 30 days of food and water. If for no other reason, in the event of natural disaster.

If our economy does collapse and the dollar implodes? Then the chaos that will follow as a result will most certainly spill over into the streets and violence will be the currency of the land then.

So do as you please and most certainly believe as you please. If this pastor turns out to be nothing more than a has been loon, he is still onto the right track of reality and preparation for the future that can easily come to pass.

In the mean time, I will govern myself accordingly. I will put back food and staples and watch and wait. And if nothing happens? There will be no loss on my part for having done so.

I even intend to plant a garden in a couple of weeks. Which means I will have beans to hoe in a couple of months of my own.

People really want to ignore the elephant in the room, as do I, but the crap is piling up and I'm afraid someone's going to bring in a fan.

MERIBETH

I WOULD NOT MAKE A NEGATIVE COMMENT ABOUT DAVID UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE LIFE HE LEADS. WHAT A MAN OF GOD. HAVE YOU VISITED HIS CHURCH? THERE IS NO OTHER I HAVE SEEN ANYWHERE THAT COMPARES TO THIS PRECIOUS WORK OF THE LORD. EVERY TONGUE, EVERY RACE, EVERY AGE...IN UNION ... WORSHIP THE LORD. PRAYER AND THE WORD OF GOD ARE THEIR FOUNDATIONS!

HIS MESSAGE IS CLEAR. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR MONEY OR THE COVERINGS YOU ARE USING TO HIDE YOUR UNHOLINESS, BUT INSTEAD REPENT AND PURIFY YOURSELF. HOLD FAST TO THE CROSS. THAT IS WHERE IT WAS FINISHED. DO NOT SCOFF AT THE WARNING OR GOD WILL HARDEN YOUR HEART.

IF YOU SAY IT IS NOT SCRIPTURAL THEN YOU ARE NOT IN THE WORD! JUST OPEN YOUR BIBLE. LOOK AT YOUR HEART...DOES IT SEEK GOD DAILY? IS IT YOUR 1ST LOVE?

PEOPLE GET READY ... JESUS IS COMING!

GOD BLESS AND KNOW THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL!

I have to say that I am 50 years old, have been saved since I was 13, and have followed David Wilkerson's ministry for many, many years. There are many things he has been right about, and many things he has been wrong about. He made this same prediction in 1986 and said that there would be rioting, massive fires, and blood in the streets within a couple of years. It didn't happen. I quit listening to these messages of 'God's judging American' because that isn't what God keeps showing me. The word says that 'the goodness of God leads to repentance'. He is ALWAYS in the business of drawing people to Himself, and He's not nearly done working on all of us. My opinion for some time has been that if we Christians put our time and effort into what Jesus said was important, we would have won the world years ago. He said 'pure religion and undefiled is this: that you visit the widow and orphan in their affliction, and visit those in prison'. THAT'S what our Lord said .... and are we doing it???? VERY FEW of us are. We need to get back to basics, and back to what HE is telling us to do.

Gini

To Mommynator: I TOTALLY agree with what you posted here:

"The "church" can be just as guilty about creating panic and confusion in order to try to gain control over peoples' lives, instead of accessing and giving out God's peace - the peace Jesus promised us (in the world you will have trouble but I will give you peace), just so people can feel important (totally antithetic to Christ's attitude) and influential and in control.

And I think that's why I've all but given up on church in the traditional sense, and find it wherever I can who are trying to follow Christ. The agenda-driven life is not for me."

I, too have found that way too many pastors preach only what brings people under their control. I also have an abhorrence now to the fellow 'Christians' who rush to get to know you in a church, just to try to control you, judge you, and tell you what to do. I find the Lord to be simple to follow .... as long as you cut through all the 'man-based' teaching out there. I find fellow-believers everywhere that are no longer interested in man's opinions, but just want to simply follow Him. A lot of church boils down to an 'I am better than everyone else' mentality. That's not how we are to live.

Seriously, what you guys say about David being wacked is so wrong. Just because it has't happened yet doesn't mean thatt it won't. The Bible talks about the end times and if you've been reading it you would know that what we're going through now isn't a joke. It's just the beginning. So go ahead and mock him. Be just like the people that mocked Noah.

The problem with most of these type of predictions is they are based on a wrong theology. Many Right Wing Christians look at America as the new Israel therefore they take scriptures from old Testament that were made during time God related to his people through a nation relationship with Moses Abraham Covenant. God now relates through individuals that make up body of Christ. Disciples rejected Zealots and those that wanted to make Christ King. America is not the new Israel there was no USA Abraham or Moses Covenant sad that Christians look at America and patrotism like a religion. Like our country will be judged like eveil Judges kings in OT but that was based on a contract with GOD SOMETHING WE DO NOT HAVE.

Stop living with American Elitism preach Christ salvation. Nations will come and go God writes on hearts now not stone

thanks
