The hype is never the reality, be it in advertising or in politics. And yes, the fact that the messiah is looking for props is probably at the heart of the GM advertising campaign and the casual bending of the truth.

What was that about fooling all of the people all of the time?

Seems to me like he's done a damn fine job of it up to this point.

Like others have alluded to, it's favorable PR for Obama if his bailout/takeover of GM is seen as successful.

It's at least as fraudulent as anything done by Goldman Sachs.
