My favorite Christmas poem. Very apropos to these days, I think:
They all were looking for a King
to slay their foes and lift them high.
Thou camest a little baby thing
that made a woman cry.
O, Son of Man, to right my lot
None but Thy presence can prevail.
Yet on the road Your wheels are not
nor on the sea Thy sails.
My fancied ways - why shouldst Thou heed?
Thou comest down Thine own secret stair
to answer all my smallest need.
Yea, every bygone prayer.
