I'm speaking of Sonja, honorary member of my Religious Left blogroll:
And mostly I’m sick of guns!!
I have a 12 yo son. Lately (as in for the past year) it seems as though the only game he and his friends can play is war of some form or another. They play it on video games. They play it with nerf guns. They play it with air soft guns. He plays it in his head all by himself. He and his dad watch WWII movies or Vietnam movies. They talk battle tactics.
I’m sick of living in a culture that is permeated with war and news of war. Of living in a society where bomb blasts and mourning top the daily headlines. And soldiering (killing) is glorified.
Literally … it’s making me sick.
I understand why it’s happening … I’m just sick of it.
I wonder what this makes her... it is, after all, an alternative:
Jessee Vasold, William and Mary's first transgender homecoming queen, took the field at halftime of the Tribe's game against James Madison wearing a red shirt, black pants and a small silver lip ring to applause and not much other notice.
Vasold, a junior, and the other members of the homecoming court were introduced to the crowd, posed for pictures, and walked off the field.
"I knew I was nominated, but I was just surprised, because there were a lot of other really good candidates on the ballot," Vasold said. "I know all of the other girls, and they're wonderful people, really friendly. So I was surprised."
Vasold identifies as "gender-queer," a catch-all term for those who identify with something other than traditional male or female gender roles.
"Normally, it really just depends on the day, how I dress," said Vasold, who prefers gender neutral pronouns – "ze" instead of he or she and "zir" instead of him or her. "I don't identify as a woman. It really just depends on the day and the occasion."
Vasold said family members were in town for homecoming, and while they have been "generally" supportive, some were unsure about Vasold's decision to accept the homecoming title.
"They're a little hesitant about this, but they realize that it's my choice to accept," Vasold said.
My assumption is that this would make Sonja much less than sick.... which would make me think that a society that finds the former to be wrong while the latter to be right is a society that's sick.
But that's just me.

I wonder if Sonja is also sick of the freedoms she has that were gained by the barrel of a gun? Obviously not the Freedom of Speech.
BYW, what size burka does Sonja wear?

Hey, Sonja. Grow up. The reason boys play war is that they are made to play war. Those same boys grow up into men who will lay down their own lives for your safety and freedom just as their forefathers have for countless generations.
Here's a clue: men and women are different. Be thankful for that.

"Here's a clue: men and women are different. Be thankful for that."
Well, Jesse the "gender-queer" homecoming queen probably would argue otherwise. He could've used some more war game playing, amongst other things...
Just think, now that Obama is likely to do away with the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, theoretically little Jesse could join the Marine Corps.

Sonja should perhaps read any of the books by John Eldredge..I wold suggest she start with "Wild at Heart". It might clue her in that maybe, just maybe, her husband and son are "acting that way" and "glorifying" war and soldiering because...horrors...that's the way God designed men!
Oh and I was going to suggest that little Jesse could never hack the rigors of ANY of the service's Boot Camp...but with "gender norming" and all.....

She's tired of war? Is she serious?
Our soldiers are tired of war. They're tired of a stupid administration (probably loved and adored by this person) who won't give them the equipment or rules of engagement to go in and get the job done so they can come home.
I'm sure they're tired of being shot at without being able to retaliate the way they should because their opponents are too cowardly to come out and fight like men.
How about realizing that sometimes war is a necessary evil and giving our military the equipment and permission to do their job so it can end?
Grow up.
