What did the bow mean and why isn't the President being asked about it?

Via Ed Morrissey at Hot Air, a juxtaposition worth noting as to Obama's bow to the Saudi King:

Interestingly enough, here's what Wikipedia has to say about the tradition of bowing in Islam:

Bowing to other human beings is frowned upon in Muslim cultures as all human beings are considered equal and bowing is only supposed to be done to God in Islam.

And here, from the same source, is what it says about bowing from a liturgically Christian perspective:

In Christian liturgy, bowing is a sign of respect or deference. In many traditions, individuals will bow when passing in front of the altar, or at certain points in the service (for example, when the name of Jesus Christ is spoken). It may take the form of a simple bow of the head, or a slight incline of the upper body. A profound bow is a deep bow from the waist, and is often done as a substitution for genuflection.

It's an interesting juxtaposition of meanings in that either context sheds negative light on Obama's bow to the King.  From an Islamic perspective, it's frowned on, and from a Christian perspective, it's done as a sign of respect or deference, meaning that Obama, a Christian (presumably) is showing deference to the head of state from which the vast majority of 9/11 terrorists originated and from which to this day is exported the vilest of Jihadist extremism.

The Anchoress has an opinion (or two) on this:

What does it mean? Nothing good, I don’t think. Is Obama a Muslim? That is less important to me than whether or not he is lying about it.

The American President does not bow to a King; they are supposed to be equals. I am really reluctant to join the “Obama is a Muslim” club, but he did not help himself by betraying his inclination, here, to bow. Nor, did he dampen down those flames when he banned the press from covering his White House reception for a federation of African-American community newspapers, (including, it seems, newspapers for and by the Nation of Islam) which was giving the president an award. The swooning lapdog press - even if it whines now and then, will never ask the president about that closed meeting. They’ll never ask the president if he was bowing, either. It would be pointless to, of course, but the press won’t even ask. They’ll be too busy trying to explain it away for Obama.

After all, as Chris Matthews said, it’s their job to make straight his path, or whatever.

Perhaps Jake Tapper or Major Garrett or some other reporter with a set of 'nads will ask the President what he meant by the bow.

We'll all await with baited breath to hear the explanation.  But here's one that makes the most sense for me:

He bowed to religious intolerance.

He bowed to misogyny.

He bowed to anti-semitism.

He bowed to homophobia.

In short, he surrendered our country’s ideals, offering up our principles for sacrifice on the altar of Otherness

Hope and change, Obama style.

They're not going to apologize, they don't get it, they are delusional. They might snap out of it if we end up under Sharia Law. Obama bowing to him is symbolic of placing himself beneath their authority, they believe their authority comes from Allah...so what does that say of Obama? The ironic thing is, the liberals would be the first to go...they would lose their heads, not that they use them very much now. Conservatives might stand a chance, but no, we would have already fallen by the sword in defense of their freedoms. According to the leftwing bloggers, "we're just being picky", "looking for small stuff because we are afraid of the important issues", "like the economy"?! Wow, just wow...are we sure they can read?

Anyone who dismisses Obama as a"traditional" and "christian" leader is blinded by idealogy.Obama is bent on "fundamentally changing America" So, if you hate what our founding fathers stood for, hate the constitution, then you'll love Obama!! Obama can be respectful without diminishing HIS OFFICE, where he represents the interests of the United States.
