In a nutshell, the memo advised Justice Department attorneys to treat corporations under investigation as “cooperative” if they waive their rights to legal counsel, and “obstructionist” if they choose to be represented by attorneys. If you believe the government is unfairly prosecuting you, in other words, and you want your legal team to oppose them, then that’s proof, to Holder, of your guilt. It’s his willingness to abuse government power that makes Holder a dangerous candidate for Attorney General. But that’s not what sells newspapers.
Remember folks... it was under Bush that our civil rights were most threatened.
