Don Surber provides substance for the assertion:
Remember that Hundred Years War exaggeration that Obama ran this summer about McCain’s position in Iraq?
Well, now he has topped that.
Obama: “He wants to tax your health benefits.”
CBS News is not buying this.
From CBS’s “The Truth About McCain And Insurance Taxes”:
Here are the facts.
Obama has the tax part correct, but the impact on the middle class is exaggerated — most people will see tax cuts.
McCain has proposed to end one of the largest tax breaks in the entire economy. Some 60 million Americans buy health insurance thru employers tax-free, and McCain would indeed begin to tax the value of the benefit.
However McCain also proposes to give the money back as a tax credit, $2,500 for individuals, $5,000 for families.
Obama’s is a trip. For a guy who whines any time someone looks at him cross-eyed, Obama sure can trash an opponent.
You would think that this sort of fibbing might be problematic for the Religious Left. You would be wrong:
Lying is a sin.
...
Telling the truth has proven particularly problematic for the current Republican ticket. The Bridge to Nowhere is like a great monolith standing tall as a symbol of the loose relationship Senator McCain and Governor Palin have with the facts. They continue to lie, and ostensibly moral, Christian voters continue to support them.
...
I am supporting Barack Obama. He has foregone lying about his opponent to gain political office.
Either Will is ignorant, deceived or willfully deceitful.
I report, you conclude.
