That from our illustrious Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, who is obviously suffering seriously from delusions of grandeur:
With fewer than 20 legislative days before the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1, the entire appropriations process has largely ground to a halt because of the ham-handed fighting that followed Republican attempts to lift the moratorium on offshore oil and gas exploration. And after promising fairness and open debate, Pelosi has resorted to hard-nosed parliamentary devices that effectively bar any chance for Republicans to offer policy alternatives.
“I’m trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet,” she says impatiently when questioned. “I will not have this debate trivialized by their excuse for their failed policy.”
“I respect the office that I hold,” she says. “And when you win the election, you win the majority, and what is the power of the speaker? To set the agenda, the power of recognition, and I am not giving the gavel away to anyone.”
There's more... none of it worth a plug nickel but nevertheless, if you're into megalomaniacs.
My advice to the Speaker if she's serious about saving the planet... resign.
And take her ideological comrades like John Murtha, Harry Reid and so many others with her.
The sooner the better. For the planet.

Please, Somebody get that poor lady some help. She obviously needs it. Perhaps all the pressure of maintaining a 9% approval rating is finally getting to her.

Speaker of the House or Assembly. The speaker is the principal leader of the House or Assembly. The speaker typically will (1) preside over the daily sessions of the Senate, (2) preserve order in the chamber, (3) state parliamentary motions, (4) rule on parliamentary questions, (4) appoint committee chairs and members, (5) refer bills to committee, (6) sign legislation, writs and warrants and (7) act as the official spokesman for the House or Assembly.

Her advisers are failing her, I think. It seems it was quite some time ago she received the suggestion that she should work those three words, "THEIR FAILED POLICIES," into every little comment she makes.
Nancy Pelosi talking about failed policies is like Michael Moore talking about obesity.

Geez - the blind, steroid-soaked ego of the woman!
SHE'S trying to Save The Planet! people! SHE! Singlehandedly, but thwarted by those knuckledragging Republicans who insist that people should be able to afford to live!
Oh, the humanity!

And further more…
“I will not have this debate trivialized by their excuse for their failed policy.”
You mean that failed policy of not drilling our own oil, resulting in $4.00+ a gallon gas and billions being sent to our enemies Mrs. Speaker?
You mean that failed policy that the Republicans want to rectify but you won’t let them because you’re an immature little dimwit who cares more about being in power than doing the right thing?
“I am not giving the gavel away to anyone.”
Then don’t, stick it up you’re a$$ as far as I’m concerned, just do the right thing and let people who actually have the American people’s interest in mind do their work.
