Israel carried out a major military exercise earlier this month that American officials say appeared to be a rehearsal for a potential bombing attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Several American officials said the Israeli exercise appeared to be an effort to develop the military's capacity to carry out long-range strikes and to demonstrate the seriousness with which Israel views Iran's nuclear program.
More than 100 Israeli F-16 and F-15 fighters participated in the maneuvers, which were carried out over the eastern Mediterranean and over Greece during the first week of June, American officials said.
The exercise also included Israeli helicopters that could be used to rescue downed pilots. The helicopters and refueling tankers flew more than 900 miles, which is about the same distance between Israel and Iran's uranium enrichment plant at Natanz, American officials said.
Israeli officials declined to discuss the details of the exercise. A spokesman for the Israeli military would say only that the country's air force "regularly trains for various missions in order to confront and meet the challenges posed by the threats facing Israel."
While most of Americas attention is fixed on the presidential race and the cost of gasoline at the pump, there are other things still cooking in the world and Iran's nuclear ambitions is one of them. President Bush has been trying to tell the American people and the world, for the past four years the danger that a nuclear Iran represents to the middle east and the rest of the world. But those warnings have by and large fallen on deaf ears.
But as this news points to directly, the Israelis aren't buying the main stream western media versions of diplomacy with terrorists and Obama's wisdom that Iran is just a little country. The Israelis have been victimized by their Arab neighbors before and they don't intend to allow it to happen again. Last year, the Israelis took the actions that needed to be taken concerning the Syrian ambitions for nuclear weapons and the threat that posed to Israel. The UN and others were predictably upset and raised a few eyebrows and rattled a few diplomatic sabers, but they know what is going on in the middle east as well as the rest of the world.
Therefore, the same fate will come to pass for the Iranians. The White House has raised the alarm but of late soft pedaled the realities concerning the threat that a nuclear Iran poses to the both peace in the middle east and the threat of global terror. Personally, I don't look to see President Bush taking any military action against Iran before his term expires. I believe that he is content to leave that problem to his successor. But the Israelis don't have that luxury, nor do they care what the western media's opinions of their actions are.
Iran is "in their neighborhood." And aside from that, the current president nut job of that country, has gone on the record numerous times, with his feelings as it concerns Israel and the Jews. Therefore, as the report above reflects, the Israelis are preparing to take care of the problem, before it becomes an after the fact certainty.
Ladies and gentlemen....that next glow that you see rising on our the eastern horizon? May not be sunrise, but rather what use to be the land of the Ayatollahs.

"May not be sunrise, but rather what use to be the land of the Ayatollahs."
Allah willing.

Well the speculation this afternoon is, that if Israel does attack Iran, we can expect an immediate jump in oil prices to $200 a barrel and $6 a gallon at the pump.
And remember, the European's are already paying $8-$10 a gallon so expect theirs to jump into the teens. The world economy cannot bear up under this type of economic pressure. And if "Ack-ma-dick-jad" responds by closing the Gulf of Hormuz?
Then expect to see two if not three carrier battle groups making flank speed, along with a half dozen or more Los Angeles class SSBN submarines to the area, to finish what the Israelis started.
Putin's (pronounced "Pootin") government is not prepared to deal with that, nor are the Chinese. So perhaps it's best that we go ahead and get this out of the way now, while we still have the means to do it.

What NO ONE in the U.S. knows is that there is a large population of Jews living in Iran. They are very happy there and face NO DANGER whatsoever. If you don't believe me go to http://www.sephardicstudies.org/iran.html and see for yourself. The U.S. media is once again brainwashing ignorant and uneducated Americans into believing that Ahmadinejad is a threat to the U.S. and Israel. The 60 Minutes interview was edited to make Ahmadinejad look like a psycho. Watch the UNEDITED interview here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=onNzrNEFs1E
