Clash of ideas
From Mike, a stalwart member of the Religious Left, a blast against capitalism, as usual, as he posts the following video:
And from the most aptly named Copious Dissent, a counter:
The gentleman sticking it to the Left's Phil Donahue is none other than Milton Friedman.
Isn't it odd that the left, especially the Religious Left, are so quick to impugn that which most counters what they deem to abhor and yet they embrace that which most leads to what they deem to abhor.
Odd?
Or intentional?

Now THAT was a thrashin'.
Just now, I put that second clip on full-screen, turned the laptop toward my ten year old son, and told him "You need to watch this, THIS is a trashin'."
And a peelin'.
And a stompin'.
You almost have to feel sorry for Phil, he just doesn't know what to say next.
You know...I notice this about people when they argue. If they have real confidence in the things they say and the ideas in which they profess to believe, they use STRONG words. Words that have definition.
And "greed" is not one of those words. If it had meaning before, it don't no more. It's like a cog that's been thoroughly worn down to a little round metal nub.

Of all the economic systems out there, capitalism is the ONLY one that best accommodates HUMAN NATURE. Sinful human nature.
Everything else is based on utopian (and therefore false) conceptions of human nature and the way people really act.
This is why capitalism is so successful. It is not perfect because human nature is not perfect, but it has its own corrections for greediness and dishonesty.

In the first video of the children...the governments of the children on the right of the screen should be dismantled and a capitalistic government put into it's place.
Then the children on the right would be eating breakfast and going to school instead of gluing shoes.
So I guess the Mtv logo on the screen really means, "Moronic Tunnel Vision."
