I heard this on ABC News moments ago and I don't believe it'll play well in Peoria:
"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it." - Senator Barack Obama
It's almost as if listening to Jeremiah Wright for 20+ years had an actual effect on the man... ya think?
But hey, according to the Religious Left, there's no cause for concern here folks so move along.

Obama is immune to hearing strong speak from people he loves. Imagine how he, as a small child, heard his loving grandma say, "Those n------came down that street and scared me to death!" So Rev. Wright's statements were no big deal to him. I don't know why he didn't just come out and admit that. He has been listening to strong talk on the other side of that coin since he was a baby! And not just from grandma, but more than likely from grandpa, auntie sue and uncle lou also! It made him thick-skinned, with a hearty stamina and able to let mere words roll off his back more easily than most of us. This is what we need in a president. Stength. Finally.

It is unfortunate that none of Mr. Obama's family are availible to dispute his account of anything. What is alive and hale are the factual accounts of his association with racist "theologians" at his church.
I am not injured by the fact that Mr. Obama is a closet racist. I think he should speak more honestly on the subject. If he believes in the things that his church propagandizes so be it. As long as you run for office based on your true character you have commited no sin. However, the man is a very poor liar and affronts the intelligence of even the most meager minded
of us when he expects us to believe that he had a twenty year association with his church and did not adhere to its doctrine.

Well put Scott although there is one problem with your last statement... there are plenty of meager minded amongst the Religious Left who continue not to be affronted and in fact continue to defend the wrong-headed Pastor Wright.
I find that amazing.

That's because it isn't about consistency.
It's about winning. Projecting your racism onto others, being a fair-weather friend to racial prejudice, whatever you gotta do...just win.
And don't do any compromising. Do a lot of talking about it. Just don't act on it.
