Via e-mail, Bill Faith writes and informs us of A Gathering Of Eagles and asks like-minded folks to link to this U.S. Veterans Dispatch post:
Leftist activists who march to the Pentagon next month will discover that their path won't be as clear as it has been in the past.
The group, led by Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and their ilk, plan to gather March 17 at the Vietnam Memorial Wall to begin a march to protest America's involvement in the Iraq war. The date marks the fourth anniversary of the war's beginning.
This time, however, protestors will see objectors if they spit on Iraqi veterans again, or throw paint on a war memorial. This time, they will encounter a buzz saw of Vietnam veterans and supporters who will gather to protect the Wall, and show their support for U.S. troops. The counter-protestors are calling themselves the Gathering of Eagles.
"… An eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks. The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it."
An unknown author wrote that description, but it describes how the veterans see their mission. They are angry that the Wall is being used as a jumping off point for a political protest and they are gathering to protect it from another storm of anti-war activists.
"The anti-war/anti-America group cannot be allowed to use the Vietnam Memorial Wall as a back-drop to their anti-America venom and stain the hallowed ground that virtually cries out with blood at the thought of this proposed desecration ... it must not happen," said veteran Bud Gross. "… All Americans are invited to support our effort, which is intended as a defender of hallowed ground and intended as a non-violent competition between those that would sell out America and those of us who support freedom and keeping the fight with the enemy on distant shores."
The group defending the Wall will be wearing armbands to identify themselves. Those who are unable to stand with the defenders are being asked to wear armbands with small U.S. flags to show their own communities that they abhor the Fonda-Sheehan tactics.
"We'll be there to act as a countervailing force against the Cindy Sheehan-Jane Fonda march from the Vietnam Memorial to the Pentagon," retired Navy Capt. Larry Bailey said. "We will protect the Vietnam Memorial. If they try to deface it, there will be some violence, I guarantee you."
Bailey and thousands of his fellow Vietnam vets are worried that the anti-war protesters will damage the wall, just as they spray-painted the steps of the Capitol at their last march.
The wall is sacred to the men and women who fought in that war.
"It is our contact with our dead brothers -- those who lost their lives in the cause of their country," Bailey said.
And so it is that Washington will see a Gathering of Eagles - Americans determined to stand up against leftist propagandists who denigrate U.S. troops and the mission for which they sometimes sacrifice their lives.
Bob Owens, also via e-mail, fills us in on who exactly is organizing and participating in this anti-war gathering and posts about it here:
It may be worth noting that for a march apparently organized by leftists, the overwhelming majority of sponsoring groups have a radical Islamic focus.
The Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation is one of the groups that threatened a "Sheikdown" of U.S Airways after the removal of six imams from a Minneapolis- to-Phoenix flight in which the imams performed what one airline pilot stated was "a terrorist probe in the airline industry."
A 2004 Chicago Tribune article states that the MSA is the American face of the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that seeks to impose radical Islamist sharia law as the government of the United States. The terrorist group Hamas is also a wing of the Brotherhood, and the Brotherhood was financially supported by none other than Ayatollah Khomeini. Khomeini's movement is also responsible for kidnapping American embassy personnel for 444 days from 1979-81.
Osama Bin Laden was influence by professors closely alligned with the Brotherhood, and his current cavemate, Ayman al-Zawahiri joined the group at age 14 before "graduating" to found al Qaeda with bin Laden.
Mahdi Bray, current leader of that group and a supporter of the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist groups according to JihadWatch, protested on behalf of both Ahmad Abu-Ali (charged with plotting to kill President Bush), and Abdurrahman Alamoudi, a man convicted in a plot to assassinate Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.
Waleed Bader, vice chair of the National Council of Arab Americans and former president of Arab Muslim American Federation, previous protested against the "occupation of Iraq and Palestine." The National Council of Arab Americans called the creation of the state of Israel as the "Palestinian Catastrophe (Nakba) of 1948" just this past July.
The Free Palestine Alliance has attempted to stifle the business of Caterpillar Corporation (the bulldozer folks), saying that they want "to expose Caterpillar’s complicity in Israel’s war crimes." This "complicity" is apparently the IDF practice of using Caterpillar bulldozers to destroy tunnels used to smuggle firearms and explosives to terrorist groups in Gaza, which are then used to target Israeli civilians.
The Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front, better known as FMLN, is a communist organization from El Salvador formed in 1970 which fought a civil war against that country's government in the 1980s, and was once identified as a Marxist-Leninist terrorist organization before putting down their arms to become a purely political party.
The Muslim Student Association, with multiple chapters at universities around the country, has been investigated for funding terrorism multiple times. A Speaker from the group was once quoted by Robert Spenser as saying, "The only relationship you should have with America is to topple it." The MSA has invited neo-Nazis to speak at forums sponsored by the group.
These primarily Islamist groups are among the vanguard of those sponsoring the anti-war march scheduled in the nation's capitol for March 17. Based upon this roll call of Islamists, terror supporters, and neo-Nazi admirers playing a leading roll in the anti-war march, I'd say that the Gathering of Eagles has every reason to be concerned for the sanctity of the powerful monument known simply as The Wall.
Umm...
I'm gonna go out on a limb and declare that it's now ok to question their patriotism.
You?

A GATHERING OF EAGLES CARAVAN TO WASHINGTON, D.C. FROM 3/8-17 --- www.janereinheimer.com
The theme is: These Colors Don't Run
It all started when word got out that Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda and Ramsey Clark were going to lead a huge anti-war protest in Washington, D.C. -- disgracing the war memorials as they marched toward the Pentagon.
Along the way, a patriot named Melanie Morgan (www.melaniemorganrocks.com) got on board with a campaign rally of her own which she calls "Move America Forward." Morgan is author of a book called American Mourning. She is also a talk show host on KSFO in San Francisco.
Melanie is hoping that all the people who are able and who can participate will join her on St. Patrick's Day
Move America Forward will be a national caravan from California all the way to our nation's capital. Along the way, there will be rallies for fellow patriots and flags donated. These donated flags will be placed around war memorials in a sea of red, white and blue.
The Jane Fondas and the Cindy Sheehans and any other protestors will meet patriots from around the country -- Gold Star Mothers who have lost someone they love, Blue Star Mothers who have someone serving now, and veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
After the rally is completed, then the flags that have been donated in the patriotic rallies across the country will be sent to Iraq and Afghanistan with a note that explains this national effort.
Melanie Morgan says, "Desecrating war memorials is treasonous. Spitting on soldiers is for demons and snakes. Troops stand in harm's way for the protection of civilians. Patriots will always stand in support of their troops."
Go to www.moveamericaforward to see the caravan route. It starts with a rally in San Francisco at 8:45 a.m. on March 8th. From there, the caravan will head south, then turn east in southern Caifornia.
On Friday, March 16th, the set up for "Flag City" in Washington, D.C. on the Capitol Mall during the day, followed by a pro-troop vigil at Walter Reed Medical Center.
On March 17th, the patriotic/pro-troop rally with Move America Forward, Gathering of Eagles, Free Republic, Rolling Thunder, Vets for Victory and others will take place at the Vietname Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., from 11 am to 5 pm.
"We're going to protect our Wall," said Bob Penn, a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. "It's that simple." His group, Operation Rolling Thunder, is helping get the necessary permits from the National Park Service and they're spreading the word by e-mail and word of mouth.
Truth is, they aren't getting much play on ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN. Morgan was a guest on Fox News Channel's Hannity & Colmes though.
Gee, do you think this has anything to do with Fox News Channel's continued occupancy of the pinnacle of viewership in America? Are all the other news channels just part of the Great American Disconnect?
Go to www.gatheringofeagles.org and www.rollingthunder.org and www.defendourfreedom.com (this group will be filming and photographing the entire event).
So let's see -- our web site got 7,429 hits in January 2007 and we're over 6,000 so far this month. I'm guessing, from all your e-mails that you're Patriots like we are. It's time to rally 'round the flag folks.
It's time to honor all our military personnel and tell them we're rock solid behind them. It's time to reassert the hallowed sites that remember our fallen heroes!

There is tons of information on what this so-called anti-war protest is really all about. I shudder to think what DC will look like after these radicals blow through there.
One group wants the release of a death row, convicted cop-killer. Wonder if they'll spring him out to join in the 'march'.
Pretty frightening stuff!
God Bless Our Troops!

I went to the GOE... I wasn't born yet when the Vietnam War began and I was young when the last American troops left Vietnam. I now have a son who is proudly and freely serving in the U.S. Army as a combat medic. He has done 1 tour of duty in Iraq. After being at the wall, I went to photograph the event, my life has been changed. 30,000 people strong standing to support our veterans and our soldiers. It was a remarkable event. These veterans are a great group of people and I have found a family that I have missed for many years.
I'd stand with them and for them, against anyone who wants to dishonor them. Thank you is such a small word.
I will do all in my power to make sure that my son and all other OIF/OEF veterans do not face the same treatment our Vietnam Veterans have faced.
Shake a veterans or soldiers hand when you see one. You'll be the one blessed for it.
