Nancy Pelosi calls herself "the most powerful woman in America"
"We will not just break through a glass ceiling, we will break through a marble ceiling," she said. "In more than 200 years of history, there was an established pecking order -- and I cut in line."
After calling herself "the most powerful woman in America," Mrs. Pelosi flexed her right muscle like a weight lifter to much applause at an event yesterday titled a "women's tea."
"All right, let's hear it for the power," she screamed as the jubilant applause continued.
Some on my Religious Left blogroll are nearly... orgasmic... about it:
As I watched Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner introduce incoming Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi at the opening of the 110th Congress just minutes ago, my eyes welled; I've never felt prouder to be an American than I did when watching this historic moment.
Never. Felt. Prouder.
Holy. Crap.
UPDATE: Cox & Forkum have an opinion, illustrated below:

Yeah I heard about this. Got a picture of the occasion as she addressed the chamber.

"So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause."

I'm trying to imagine the response a man would get to shouting "let's hear it for the power" and calling himself the most powerful man in the world.
Let's hear it for equality!

“let's hear it for the power" Sounds like something one of those underwear clad, steroid injected “wrestlers” would scream before pretending to inflict injury.
As far as her being the “the most powerful woman in America”, while she technically may be right, I’m sure Condi Rice is rolling her eyes. But then again, a Black Republican Sec. of State obviously doesn’t mean too much to Pelosi or Dem’s in general.
It all just reeks of “Me, me, me” when I thought she works and represents us (or at least some of us).

I'm wondering how the former most powerful liberal woman is feeling right now. Hilly is sitting in the background, biding her time and letting Darth Pelosi duke it out with the Republicans and MSM. We could possibly see a revised Hilly, based on polling data, just in time for the election cycle. For now she has time to flex her bicep in front of the mirror as she chants "Madame President, Madame President ..."

WTF are you talking about, Morgan? Seriously, do you people take crack? And on the very day that Bush tries to open your mail, you go and accuse Pelosi of something as baseless as taking away civil liberties.
I hope you take crack, 'cuz the other alternative is that you're just dumber than a rock.

And yes, Leslie, let's hear it for equality! Amen.
Posted by: Zossima | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 12:36 PM
Further comment: We live in an upside-down world, folks. It's one where principles have been tossed in favor of loyalties. If Bush wants to read your phone or tap your mail, he's more than welcome. He's a Republican from Jesus-land, after all. And anyone who opposes him is just a terrorist-hugger.
But if Wal-Mart, a private corporation that really can do whatever the hell it wants, tells its greeters to say "Seasons Greetings" instead of "Merry Jesus-mas", wingnuts like Morgan get their panties all in a bunch. (Yes, I know Morgan didn't actually bring it up. I'm just doing the guilt-by-association thing, since he clearly is a wingnut.)
And instead of dealing in the truth on what Bush is trying to do or standing by the founding pops on a little thing called the Constitution or holding an entire Administration accountable for the biggest colossal f*ckup in the history of this country, let's just demonize Nancy Pelosi.
Nice going, clowns.

Zossima,
Get some help.
Posted by: tim | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 12:48 PM
Tim, I recall tearing you a new one recently. How's that healing?
Posted by: Zossima | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 12:52 PM
Postmodern loving dialogue.
It's hard to know what to reach out and embrace first.
Posted by: Leslie | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 01:15 PM
Leslie, what's "postmodern" about it? People have been cursing each other since Cain and Abel. ; )
Posted by: Zossima | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 01:52 PM
Exactly.
Posted by: Leslie | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 02:53 PM
Yes Zossima, you’re truly a legend in your own mind. By the way, you asked me to come back and then... nothing, Gutless wonder.
P.S. Have your therapist work with you about your anal fixation. It’s not heathly.
Posted by: tim | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 03:20 PM
Tim, you really should step back and let Rick and Morgan handle this. They can both hang with me on the logic and on the banter. You're just out of your league. I'm not the kind to hurt puppies.
Posted by: Zossima | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 03:45 PM
Zossima,
Ah, yes I forgot how much the delusional think so highly of themselves. I can respect someone for throwing in the towel under the guise of superiority...well not really.
None the less, no problem, I won’t contribute to someone’s obvious mental anguish, especially after such a thinly veiled plea for mercy.
P.S. Maybe you should let Rick & Morgan speak for themselves.

For whatever damage Pelsoi may inflict on our neighbors to the north and other allies, please accept my apologies upfront.
Posted by: Kevin | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 04:37 PM
Tim, I'm not even sure what you're saying at this point. (I obviously wasn't attempting to speak for either Rick or Morgan, dumb***.) Seriously, dude, come back when you actually have a single fact on your side. Just one. Name-calling or not, your political views are so vaccuous, lame, proven-wrong, and grossly fraudulent that you don't have a leg to stand on.
Posted by: Zossima | Friday, January 05, 2007 at 05:07 PM
Kevin, are you apologizing to them for Bush, too? I still can't fathom gay conservatives in this age.

where do i trademark DUMOCRAT ?

Pelosi is full of her own hubris, isn't she?
She's better watch it. Pride goes before a fall. Better to allow other people to praise you and your accomplishments than yourself.
*crickets chirping for Pelosi*
Zossima, ask your doctor to up your dosage. Your hallucinations are returning. You call names then ask others not to call names. That's really mature and feminist like.
You have no evidence for anything you've said about Bush, but you continue to beat that tired old drum. Bush is not opening our mail or listening to our peon phone calls about what to pick up at the grocery and how cute that boy is. His staff is listening to people who are plotting our death and destruction.
I'm sure that gives you joy, however, because our death and destruction is what you folks pray for every day - smearing our military and their mission unjustly, lying about their Commander in Chief and the policies he has put in place, trying to hornswoggle the whole country with how bad we are when in truth in spite of our flaws and silliness sometimes, we are the most generous nation on earth who has NOT gone imperialistic. We destroy to destroy enemies, and then we build for the sake of the innocents left. Every. single. last. time.
Try reading some history that is not strained through the feces-lined colon of hatred that passes for thought in your crowd.

So let me get this straight:
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's home district includes San Francisco...
Star-Kist Tuna's headquarters are in San Francisco, Pelosi's home district.
Star-Kist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to Pelosi.
Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan workforce.
Paul Pelosi, Nancy's husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist stock.
In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage.
This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competition's. And the Democrats say they are standing up for the little guy.
Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an 'economic development credit in American Samoa'.
Pelosi has called the Bush Administration "CORRUPT"?
How do you spell "HYPOCRISY"?
