Blackfive gives us the details:
January 17, 2003, SSG McNaughton was recovering in Walter Reed from wounds sustained in Afghanistan when the President came by for a visit. McNaughton had lost a leg and a few fingers from a landmine on January 9, 2003. The President offered to go for a run with McNaughton when he was ready. Fourteen months later the above photo was taken.
Received a note from McNaughton the other day and wanted to share it (since it was meant for all of you):
Hi everyone at Black Five,
I wanted to give you a update of what I have been doing and to ask for your help. I still work for Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness in Louisiana and was very busy during Hurricane Katrina and Rita, We are getting ready for another Hurricane season.
On December 20th, 2005, my wife gave birth to my son Jordan Michael. He is doing great and smiles a lot. I started running again and my goal is to run the New York City Marathon in November. I feel very lucky to be able to run on a prothetic leg.
...I have a website to raise money for wounded men and women coming back from Afghanistan or Iraq. I'm trying to reach my goal. Can you please help me to get my website out to more people? I think people want to help they just don't know where to go.
Thank you and God Bless America.
