... for something I rarely call for, time for some activism.
I have been hard on Mike, unmercifully at times. I think that too often he adopts a particular political stance well before doing the kind of fact checking that I believe is necessary. And we've clashed too many times.
Yet for some reason I keep returning to Mike's site, pretty much daily and this post may provide solid reasons why I think you might want to go there often as well:
OK friends, here we go...
In the best tradition of the Make Poverty History campaign, lets fire up an email campaign with the goal of encouraging the Government of Pakistan to end the detention of and all travel restrictions on Mukhtaran Bibi.
As further background the Asian-American Network Against Abuse of Women has compiled an exhaustive resource page, as well as sample email text. (In fact the ANAA was arranging a trip to the United States when these latest actions by the government of Pakistan occurred.)
We don't have the technical abilities of a large campaign, so this is going to require just a little bit of work on your part.
There's much more over there worth reading, I encourage you to go now and check things out, and more importantly, be moved to action. Although I want to believe that there may be more to the story, I believe there's enough there that merits Mike's attention and that is worthy of our own.
So go now, and seriously ponder following Mike's lead and those who already have. Maybe it'll make a difference.
Maybe.

Way to go , Rick.
Thanks.
