PETA - People Executing The Animals
Two on PETA staff charged with cruelty to animals:
Two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals were arrested on animal cruelty charges in Ahoskie, N.C., after investigators saw dead dogs being thrown into a grocery store garbage container Wednesday, according to the Ahoskie Police Department.
Ahoskie police conducting surveillance as part of a month long investigation reported finding 18 dead dogs in the container and 13 animal carcasses in a van registered to PETA and seized by authorities.
The cats and dogs were taken Wednesday from animal shelters in Northampton and Bertie counties, police said. Animals had been collected every Wednesday for four weeks, and carcasses had been found dumped in Ahoskie every Wednesday for about a month, Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh said.
Rumor has it that Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus performers and employees will be picketing PETA headquarters in nearby Norfolk.
I'm also looking into reports that Amnesty International officials have been running the prisons at Abu Grhaib and Gitmo.

I just love animals....they're delicious!

Rick, the funny thing is that I live in an area where people treat their animals better than they treat the community of human beings around them! Life is indeed stranger than fiction at times.

I know you're on the Press side of the creek, but over here in the swamp the Pilot is making decidedly conservative noises about these - and there is no other word - bums.
Surprisingly, they've been getting stern ink for some time. This bunch has just about run its course, the hypocracy and the sheer premise of deity among those who swear to be compassionate and enlightened is worthy of the same screeching the newsies normally reserve for 'Publicans. Or Baptists.
Oh irony, where is thy sting?

Or "Poor and Excruciating Treatment of Animals"
Great post. I have a string of PETA-gate posts over at the Evangelical Ecologist (enviroguy.blogspot.com). Drop by if you get time.
