As Terri Schiavo deals in her final moments with death's brutal bias, we all should, for the sake of truth and justice, do all we can to make known that bias which has in many ways contributed to her current worsening condition.
GetReligion's Doug LeBlanc is doing his part.
LeBlanc points to an incredible display of raw prejudice, this AP story that focuses on William Cheshire's 'disqualifying' ties to his Christian faith, ties that are cause for outright dismissal of his neurological views that would keep Terri alive while neurologist Ronald Cranford's ties to organizations supporting euthanasia are completely ignored. Cranford is on record stating "there isn't a reputable, credible neurologist in the world who won't find her in a vegetative state" yet that is tame when compared to his views supporting the starvation of Alzheimer patients.
Three things you should do in my view.
- Read LeBlanc's piece in it's entirety.
- Pass that story on to a number of your family and friends.
- Ask them to do 1 and 2.
Will you?
