Schiavo's Parents Denied Access At Moment Of Death:
"Unfortunately just 10 or so minutes before she died we were told we would have to leave the room because there would be an assessment of her condition and then a visitation by Michael," Frank Pavone said.
Bobby Schindler, her brother said, "We want to be in the room when she dies," Pavone said.
"Michael Schiavo said, 'No, you cannot," Pavone said "So his heartless cruelty continues until the very last moment."
Once Schiavo passed away, the immediate family was allowed back into Schiavo's room to give her a final embrace, according to the report.
"This is not only a death with all of the sadness that it brings, this is a killing," Pavone said. "And for that we not only grieve that Terri has passed but we grieve the nation has allowed such an atrocity as this and we pray that it will never happen again."
God rest Terri's soul, may God have mercy on Michael's (though I say that absent any real genuineness).
UPDATE: David Limbaugh is catching some of the same flak I'm catching... the notion that we're "judging" Michael Schiavo:
Some of the pro-death forces have e-mailed me and chastised me for "judging" Michael Schiavo in my various columns and blog posts. I didn't really think I was being too judgmental toward Michael in my writings, just pointing out his obvious conflict of interest and other allegations that raise numerous troubling questions. But now that you mention it, I do believe this guy is just -- how shall we say it? -- not one of the good guys. Whatever else you want to say about him, this man is a cold, cold customer. Every health care provider involved in Terri's care that I heard addressing the matter on TV or radio volunteered that Michael was a mean, controlling S.O.B. Even one nurse who treated Terri (in 1993, I think) that thought she was in a PVS, said that Michael was a cruel man who lies a lot.
There's more, so much more, indicating this guy's heartlessness, but I other than his orchestration of this healthy woman's death, I don't think anything demonstrates his objective, haunting coldness, than his refusal today to let Michael's parents and siblings to be with Terri in her final moments of life. If any liberal or other pro-death activist wants to lecture me about judging Michael without sufficient knowledge, I'll vigorously point to this one soulless act in refusing his family to be with her at the end. If I were them I don't know how I could possibly turn the other cheek on that one -- though I know I would be called to do so.
MORE: I'm now hearing that Schiavo will not allow the Schindler's to attend Terri's funeral in Pennsylvania. But of course, there are those who will rationalize this behavior in one way or another and consider it judgment to discern that this is merely more evidence to support the man's being a genuine pig.

Rick,
"Judge not lest ye be judged".
Peace.

Robert,
Whether Michael ends up in hell or not is between him and God. He should simply be glad that I'm not God. There's a difference between judgment and discernment.
But I think you know that.
Peace back at ya.

Come on Rick - you are a man of integrity. Tell the whole story about the brother being barred from the room. Not just the sound bites. She is a woman, not a cause. May she rest in peace. And may the bitterness and animosity that those who never knew her think they have a right to be laid to rest. I hope her legacy will be one of reconciliation, not judgement and further division.

The press conference I listened to gave a different view of the final 10 minutes. Two sides to every story I guess.

PS. The other missing piece is the fact that her parents weren't there. They had not visited since Easter Sunday. Apparently the only fmaily member present was her brother.

Mike writes:
I assume you mean the press conference given by the lawyer, the man known for desiring that Alzheimer's patients be granted the same treatment that Terri received... sorry, the man lacks credibility with me...
And I'm just now listening to the brother of Michael Schiavo rationalize his brother's cruelty... I have no problem attaching the same label to either of these Schiavo men... they are pigs... and I have no problem "judging" the behavior that establishes that.
I remember a time when someone of Michael Schiavo's ilk would be labelled a pig by progressives concerned about men who abused their wives... but then I'm reminded they are now much more focused on the killing of innocents.

Ummm, that wasn't me, Rick. But I do resonate with the statement, so I'll consider your retort directed at me.
Peace.

Rick, I agree with you on everything you said. Michael Shiavo is an evil, hideous , selfish pig and his lawyer is scum.

the bright light in this sad time
We watched the crucifixion of a family this week. I defy anyone to think of Mrs. Schindler and not well up with tears for that poor dear woman, and a mother of sorrows.
Our countries judicial system let a bad husband destroy a woman who was the very essence of innocence...and people of good will, all KNOW the outrage of it. It was an evil thing. But there is a bright light in all of this: That precious, precious family, the Schindlers. God let us get to know and fall in love with the Schindler family and I feel privileged and blessed..
This morning, Terri's Schindler Schiavos brother and sister gave a press conference. I listened to the things they said and remembered the past weeks where they spoke out and how we all watched them suffer, I couldn't help but be amazed.
I was amazed that we live in a world with such good, brave, dear and noble people in it, in the face of such evil that they stood. And they shined all the brighter the darker the situation got, they were like stars in the night. The crueler the opposition got, the kinder and meeker they became.
They are truly good. They were everything truly Catholic, and American. If Terri was the essence of innocence, her family is the very essence decency.
Because of them, I realized that America is still the land of the free and the home of the brave. These people were BRAVE. They never gave up, they never got ugly or hateful, and they let love rule their actions, even when it was hopeless. Such people are the stuff that Saints are made of.
And Terri...she WAS the essence of innocence...
I wept tonight because there are people in our country who would use THEIR freedom to destroy that very essence of innocence...or try to, because we all know that Terri flew into the heart of God and is safe there now.
Now... No one will ever neglect her again, refer to her as a houseplant or a thing again, hurt her, break her heart, her bones, or make her sit in a dark room alone for days at a time again. She longed for her mother. All she ever wanted in her childlike state was to go home to her mother, and the law would not allow it. But now she sits in the bosom of the very Mother of God...safe from those who would destroy her.
And oh...the Schindlers: noble to the very end! Did everyone hear Bobby at the end??? Asking forgiveness from the opposition if he and his family acted in anyway contrary to the example of Christ....and offered forgiveness to them!!!!
Can you see? Yes...Terri Schiavo and her light of innocence shined and revealed the cockroaches of death on our country, but her family... THEY lit the way on how to act in the face of evil. I don't know what the future holds. It may be terrible....but then...it may not be. God is still in control... But I can tell you all one thing....if things do get very evil, and they may, God gave us an example in the Schindler family on how not to let evil get us down...and we would do well to remember the Schindler family, and remember the good and graceful and noble way they faced this evil. They were Gods example to us.
God bless the Schindler family. And God bless the new Saint in heaven: Terri. May she pray for us still in this veil of tears.

Mercy would have been to give her a nighty-night pill 15 years ago. Mercy would also have been tending for her until her time came. Inhumanity chose neither, and here we are.

It is a dark time in American history for the courts to side with a criminal against the helpless and innocent. May God have mercy and bring a sense of guilt to the evil ones.
There are many stands ahead to be taken, none more pressing than this.

The morbid, mustachioed, evil, stupid and selfish Michael Schiavo should be starved to death, tied to a chair. Directly across from him should be George Felos, who, if you notice him at news conferences, moistens his oral cavity with his putrid tongue whenever he tells a lie about Terri....whenever he says something like "Uh...Uh..Terri is uh..resting comfortably, and in all the years of seeing her, I've never....uh....never...uh seen such a look of beauty upon her". In short folks, words cannot describe my undying disgust at these two creepy individuals. Does anyone out there have a poem than might help me describe their utter putridity?

FYI: Michael Schiavo had Terri Schiavo's estate probated 4.5 hours after her death. The records have been sealed by Judge Greer.
How could it be necessary to immediately probate the estate of an individual declared indigent in order to receive Medicaid?

It's a pity that anyone can threat their wife and her family like that, and be cheered on. It's the old rule of judge, jury and executioner. A guillotine like nothing there's been before. It's literally satanic. But in the end goodness, mercy and compassion will quenche the spirits and lives of people who would be so cruel. There is no place in this world for cold blooded murderers.
