I had noticed a rather significant drop in my readership numbers of late (not that I check those kinds of things regularly.... he lied through his teeth).
And had wondered what was up.
I have been posting more on spiritual topics, less on political ones, and figured that...well... my spiritual posts aren't as... interesting...
Then I came across this:
The election is over, and all across the blogosphere, political bloggers have been wrestling with an existential question: with the next national election two years away, whatever will we write about? And more importantly: is anyone going to stick around to read it?
The short answer to the latter question is that, not surprisingly, traffic at the major political blogs is down significantly from the frenzied peaks that were achieved around Election Day. But there are signs that the bottom has been reached and that traffic is stabilizing at reasonably healthy levels suggesting that political bloggers won't be going out of business anytime soon.
Now, I hardly can call myself a "major political" blogger but I do major in politics and hey, that's close enough for me.
Bottom line is that I can now decide that my decline in visitors isn't personal.
Heh.
Oh yeah, hat tip to a definite "major political blogger".

Personally speaking, I've been more interested in the spiritual than the political, but that's just me, I've always been that way. In my case, my interest ebbs and flows for no particuarly reason - a bad day, a good day, major news stories, etc. I've noticed that when I complain about something in a post, that (regrettably) generates more traffic than a good happy post. Argh! :)

I know some political bloggers even asked themselves if they would stay open after the election - - I feel there is always something worth discussing no matter if it is as far reaching as a Presidential election or if it is a deep debate about Social Security and where the program will be in the next decade or so - - I will always visit your blog because no matter if you post about politics or the spiritual it is always good to read.

UG,
Thanks... very much...
FK,
In an odd way, I'm more interested in the spiritual as well, but it's the political that gets my blogging juices flowing... maybe someone can provide a philosophical reason as to why that might be...

Political blogging isn't usually very uplifting. Keep with the spiritual.
