23 years

She was my cousin's girl.
Our first meeting, nearly 27 years ago, didn't go so well. She commented on how skinny I appeared and on how big my nose was. She told about how my cousin had described me as this tall, dark and decent looking guy and how disappointed she was when her mental image didn't match reality. I didn't like her much then.
Being new to the area, I had no friends and so I hung out with my cousin, who of course, hung out with her.
So our paths crossed frequently. Time passed. I began noticing these coquettish looks and glances, this while she was on my cousin's arm. I dismissed them, thought that I was imagining things.
I also noticed how she was blossoming into one fine looking young lady.
Once, at a movie theatre, where she sat between my cousin and me, I felt her brush her hand against my leg. Repeatedly. Couldn't believe it.
After a while (and alot of 'stuff' I won't go into now), we began dating. Our first kiss was simply incredible. She made all the moves. I was in heaven. Still am.
She is my best friend. She is my soul-mate. She is, simply, my life. She is living proof that God does indeed love me.
Today we celebrate our 23rd anniversary. I love her more today than yesterday, I'll love her more tomorrow than today.
Happy anniversary baby...
